DANCE Like NO ONE is Watching. I Love to dance. If your local to Honolulu or going to visit and like to dance (even a little...) I can normally be found at Wave Nightclub in Waikiki on Friday and Saturday nights between 12:30 am and 4 am. When I was living in Pittsburgh PA we had a crew we all went out together. Often just a few, but sometimes as many as 20 of us all at the same time... so even if your a guy (NO, I am not gay) and just got some cool (dance) moves you care to show off... come on out. its always cool to learn from others. (Tuesday, May 23, 2006. Update ) :After 25 years in business, The Wave Nightclub in Waikiki lost their lease. Their final public party was Saturday, May 20th. Sunday May 21st they had a private party for their regulars. In my photo album you will see a few dozen photos of the Sunday private party. I took photos on Friday and Saturday too, but used a camera phone and am still trying to figure out how to get the images off of it.... Duh... If you attended any of the nights and wish to send photos to me, I will upload them to the site as well. Why did they loose their lease ? An out of state developer bought the entire block and is going to build a 35 story "luxury" condo building. (I guess they call that "progress") The big question for the last 3 nights at the wave was... "Where are we all going to go now to find a good dance club ?" no one really had an answer..... One option is on Friday nights at Indigo in Chinatown. BTW, when we say dance club, we don't mean the typical hip hop crap that is on the radio any more. Friday June 16th I tried out "Next Door" in Chinatown on hotel street, It is next to Bar 35. Very Cool ! It reminded my of Metropol back in Pittsburgh, PA. 2 story high ceiling, they tore out part of the 2nd floor so it is straight up over the dance floor. That is good cause it helps the air circulate. Great music too ! bumped into several of the Wave crowd. Yep, I think its my new regular Friday night. Sunday June 18th I tried out Bliss. It is right next to CompUSA on Nimitz, near Restaurant Row. Very good music. a slightly younger crowd, but many of the wave crowd there too. THANKS RUBY for inviting me out there ! Lots of fun and i think i am a new regular for Sunday Nights. Now... to the hardcore Christians that might be reading this thinking "bars are not a place to meet good people." Then let me tell you that, "Prejudice is not a quality of Christ." Don't judge me (or us) before you know me (us). 1) at least 3 of my best friends for the past 15+ years, i met in "bars." They are Christian and EXCEPTIONAL dancers 2) I Don't drink when I am dancing. In any case I can't stand the taste of beer. I drink water. 3) I don't go out to pick up women. I am, out to DANCE. If I meet someone, cool... if not, no problem. In fact I rarely talk to anyone when I am out. 4) I am Good People. so are my friends. Besides, Jesus himself rarely kept company with the (self)high and mighty, but instead the ones that needed and wanted him most.. 5) I am hardcore Christian with an unwavering Faith... so if you think you know me and what I am about, think again. I am a Paradox of complexities. Besides, if your Christian you should understand this from the very first miracle Jesus performed.... Water to Wine. Keep the Party Going ! |
